My trees took a long time to drop their leaves this year, so I have had to wait to do the big raking up process... and consequently... everything is thorough wet and heavy. Not looking forward to tackling it as a result. The winds today should finish pulling the leaves down and I will not have an excuse any longer.

You shouldn't apologize for something beyond your control. Your work must be really hectic right now, because I know how much the garden - and composting means to you.

I hear you on being a slacker composter. I just got five big bags of rabbit poop -- if I could get to my bins I could layer it in to a bin and be a Good Composter.

But I can't.

Hang in there!

Cooling down into the 70s here this week, after record breaking high temps for the past two weeks. Our nights are dropping from the 60s into the 40s, so my tomato plants will be coming inside in the evenings from now on. It should be great lettuce, spinach, onion and radish growing weather!

I'll bet the stevia needs more sunshine. Why don't you try putting it under your grow lights?

Ridiculously warm here. We haven't had a frost yet and it was 75 degrees today. When the weather changes, it will change hard and fast.

That refrigerator might be actually warm and drying too. Watch for overwatering, and make sure it's getting light?
I don't know -- do a web search on "stevia growing indoors" and see if you get good tips?

Woohoo for the broccoli eating kid! :D

Is the stevia plant getting lots of direct sun on the fridge top? Did you have to repot it and if so did the roots take a beating while transplanting it? Lots of reasons a plant fails to thrive - but those are two ideas that pop into my head immediately.

A treat made better because it was grown by your own hand! Small loss to have that bag of russets go by. While it may indeed be cheaper to buy factory farmed potatoes... they absolutely DO NOT taste as good as the freshly grown potatoes from our own gardens.

Hey! Glad to see you blogging again. Daydreaming about dishes from your own produce happens to me now also. This summer, my mom made some tuna salad. I usually put them on crackers, but she put them on thick slices of the Roma tomatoes that I grew in the garden. Talk about delish!!
